I hooked my first Smallmouth Bass when I was eight years old while fishing in Connecticut's Natchaug River. After I moved to Virginia, I became proficient in catching Striped Bass, Spadefish, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, and Black Drum in the Chesapeake Bay.
The love of fishing gave me an appreciation for the land and its creatures. Thirty years ago, I began seriously studying birds and photographing nature.
I hold degrees in Biology, Natural History, and Secondary Education and teach Science in a North Carolina public high school.
